at Lexington’s Farish Theater, August 30, 2024 Join in person at the Farish Theater, OR join virtually from your home!. The Kentucky Conservation Committee is excited to be bringing our 10th Annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival to you. KCC wants to offer you the opportunity to see nation's largest environmental film festival. [NOTE: Tickets must be ordered in advance at https://KCCWildScenic2024.eventbrite.com]. You can also find information about the festival on the national Wild and Scenic Festival website. These engaging films inspire activism and transport audiences to the farthest reaches of the globe. Enjoy fabulous film making, gorgeous cinematography, and wonderful storytelling during an evening that offers films about nature, hiking, kayaking, cycling, wildlife and environmental justice. Join in on Friday, August 30th at the Farish Theater at Central Library in Lexington for an evening of adventure and inspiration OR virtual at home! The evening will include door prizes and auction! Films Begin:: 7 pm ET. (Theater doors open at 6:30 pm. for silent auction and information tables from sponsors). Virtual attendees will be able to view films for five days. Kentucky State University’s Forestry Third Thursday Thing will meet at the Harold R. Benson Research and Demonstration Farm on August 15th from 10:00 - 2:00. This year’s Agroforestry focus will present talks on several different agroforestry practices, such as alley cropping, forest farming and silvopasture. NRCS will speak about agroforestry opportunities under EQIP. The agroforestry team from KSU will talk about its current projects. No registration is required and lunch is provided. The meeting center is located on the farm at 1525 Mills Lane, Frankfort. KWOA is proud to be a partner of the Kentucky Woodland Owners Short Course (WOSC), the largest educational program designed specifically for Kentucky woodland owners. Administered and coordinated by the UK Department of Forestry and Natural Resources Extension team, the WOSC includes more than ten partner organizations who work with and support Kentucky woodland owners in caring for their woodland resources—make sure to check out our Partners page to learn more. The WOSC not only educates Kentucky woodland owners on why and how they can manage their woodlands but it also connects them with those who can provide technical and financial assistance to do so.
