The Shared Stewardship Agreement establishes a framework for federal and state agencies to collaborate better, focus on accomplishing mutual goals, further common interests and effectively respond to the increasing ecological challenges and natural resource concerns. With federal funds becoming available from a variety of programs both forestry specific and also programs forestry can play a role this agreement formalizes everyone’s commitment to sustaining forests and conserving forest ecosystems.
Signing onto this agreement will be:

• KY Energy and Environment Cabinet (KDF, Abandoned Mine Lands & Nature Preserves)
  
• KY Tourism, Arts, and Heritage Cabinet (KDFWR & Parks)
• KY Transportation Cabinet
• KY Environmental Education Council
• United States Department of Agriculture ( US Forest Service- Daniel Boone National Forest &  Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area; and NRCS)

KWOA sees this agreement as a vehicle for focusing on the conservation of forest resources and helping woodland owners' efforts to maintain healthy forest lands.
