Local Working Group Annual Meeting, May 16th

Did you know that NRCS has re-organized into twelve work units across the state?  Grayson County is part of the Elizabethtown Work Unit.  The Elizabethtown Work Unit is having its annual Local Working Group meeting this year which is being hosted by the Monroe Co. Soil and Water Conservation District.  It will be held in person at 288 Commerce Drive, Tompkinsville, KY 42167, and will have a virtual option to attend as well (link to be provided through email- you must contract your local NRCS Office to receive an email).  The meeting will take place at 9:30 to 11:30 Central / 10:30 to 12:30 Eastern.  The Elizabethtown Work Unit consists of; Breckinridge Co., Meade Co., Grayson Co., Hardin Co., LaRue Co., Hart Co., Barren Co., Metcalfe Co., and Monroe Co.
So, what is a Local Working Group?  This is a chance for you to participate in locally led conservation.
If you want to have a say in how federal dollars are spent on conservation in your area, you will want to attend this meeting.  The Local Working Group is a chance for farmers and private landowners to give feedback on how NRCS programs are run in their area.  This is to include the application process, ranking criteria, and open application periods.  There will be open discussion on conservation practices and payment incentives associated with these programs.  This is a chance to express your local issues and help direct priorities in the area and state in addressing these issues. 
Other agencies, entities, and conservation partners will be in attendance and if your concerns can not be directly address with NRCS programs, others in attendance may be able to assist you and your community’s needs.
To attend, please contact your local NRCS field office and let them know you are interested and if you will be attending in person or would like to attend virtually and receive the link via email.  Limited seating is available for those coming in person and will be reserved on a first contact basis.  An emailed link will be sent to those wanting to attend virtually and you must let your local NRCS office know to add you to the virtual attendees list so we can send you that link.  We look forward to seeing you there.
