Mark your calendars for the Kentucky Woodland Owners Association annual meeting! The meeting will take place on March 24 - 26, 2025 at Jenny Wiley State Resort Park. This year's meeting will explore a multitude of topics such as: Legacy estate planning, firefighting/Firewise, timber land management, mined land reclamation, purple paint, carbon sequestration, and white oak propagation, to name a few.
There will also be regional breakout sessions and a Monday tour of the Morgan County Nursery, which is located at 326 Tree Nursery Rd West Liberty, KY 41472 and Dewey Lake, located near Prestonsburg, Kentucky. KWOA members are invited to join in the ARRI (Appalachian Regional Reforestation Initiative) partner meeting on 9/25/2024 at the KY National Guard Training Facility (Camp Wendell Ford) training facility, which is located on a former 12,000 acre strip mine, that was operated by Peabody Coal Company in Muhlenberg County (can you hear John Prine singing "Paradise" in the background). We will meet at the Front Gate parking lot (just north of the Western Parkway) at 1015am (CT) & when cleared by Security, we will proceed to the meeting location and begin the meeting at 1030am (CT). This meeting will allow attendees to learn more about the ARRI program and see how the recently completed ARRI restoration project at Camp Wendell Ford was planned & implemented.
